Massage is an ancient healing art: Chinese records dating back 3,000 years document its use; the ancient Hindus, Egyptians and Persians applied forms of massage for many ailments; and Hippocrates wrote papers recommending the use of rubbing and friction for joint and circulatory problems.

Today, the benefits of massage are varied and far-reaching. When applied by trained professionals, it is an accepted modality in many physical rehabilitation programs. Massage therapy has also proven beneficial for many chronic conditions, and is the subject of much recent research. Ailments responding to treatment may include low back pain, headaches, arthritis, bursitis, fatigue, high blood pressure, diabetes, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, immunity suppression, infertility, smoking cessation, depression, PTSD, MS, TMJ dysfunction and more. And, as many millions of users will attest, massage also helps relieve the stress and tension of everyday living that can lead to illness and disease. It has been linked to enhanced body image in those with eating disorders. Weekend warriors and professional athletes utilize it to recover and enhance performance.
